Would you like some Dulce de leche? October 17, 2011

That's great to hear about Kelton, he´s a great guy, and he will serve a great mission.
So believe it or not mom, I have not lost any of my socks yet! I don't even have to dig them out of any couches or beds. What do you think of them jelly beans? haha!

Mom you asked if I could get things I need here and well contact solution is very expensive here but I can buy some, as well as shaving cream, but I don't think razors.

So, we have been doing great. This week has been a lot better for me, I'm loving it. The mission is getting better and better! We had a really great lesson with a member last night, with someone named Olga. How we found here is one of my most favorite experiences, so we were walking past her door, this is after we had talked to her but could never find her at the right time, and we both looked at her door and said that we needed to talk with her sometime soon. As soon as we said that she opened her door, and we said hey, but something made us stop, she then asked if we wanted a torta frita (Fried Cake). We were kind of hunger at the time, so we said why not.  We sat down and she gave us some torta fritas and then she asked if we wanted dulce de leche with it?  We said why not, us missionaries wouldn't give up the chance for dulce de leche. She came out with a container of dulce de leche and a spoon. She told my companion to open his mouth, we were so confused.. she spoon fed him a HUGE spoon full of dulce de leche, and right after with the same spoon she did that same with me... haha! Oh yummy! Well, we found 2 people in that lesson, it was great! She just up straight spoon fed us. Such a weird experience.

Hmmm... my wish list for Christmas, well... first off my two front teeth. haha! I'm kidding I still have my teeth.. for now. I would really love some fun card games, new garments, pictures of my family, anything that you might think that I need. oh and Red Ryder 200 Shot Range Model Air Rifle. O :)

Well, I love you all,
Elder Timothy V. Gomm

Walking up Stream, times will get hard - October 9, 2011

Hey family,
Well this week has been a walk up steam. We have a couple of investigators, but we have hit some rocky terrain, but that isn't going to stop us. This coming week we have a lot of service activities planned, an I'm planning on taking more photos.

Well, this last Sunday all we could do was go to church and be bored at our house, it was horrible. There was a fiesta called "Premavera, Spring", and everyone comes to Dolores to party. It truly was horrible. We had to cross town to give an elderly member the sacrament, and every second we were in the streets I felt sick to my stomach.   I testify with all of my being that now is the time to prepare ourselves and our families. We are being raised in enemy territory, and the war call has already been sound. We can either be ready or not, there is no half way.  If we only have half of the Armor of God on we will get shot no matter what and we will be wounded just as if we don't have any armor on at all.

My family I love you so very much, remember that we need to use the biggest member on our team daily. We need to become more like Jesus himself. I am always praying for you and your safety. I will always be there for all of you, that is a promise that I plan on keeping.

I love you all so very much,
Elder Timothy V. Gomm

What a great General Conference October 3, 2011

HAHA! Wow basically all the things on the to do list, I just did today!! (Mom: I give him a few things to think of doing each week in my letter to him)

Well my second General Conference...time is just flying by...I can't believe it. I ONLY HAVE 2 MORE LEFT.... I need to start knocking on more doors. haha!  This conference ended and I couldn't believe how fast it went. I was able to see all the sessions and my favorite was the second one.  Hey! I  SAW YOU GUYS!!! No I'm kidding, I lied sorry. Haha! But you know what that was the closest I have been to you in awhile, haha! I felt like I was sitting right next to you. I loved all the talks, they helped me prepare for the future, as well as applying these things to me today and the way I work. I love this work so much, and I still can't believe how fast time is going.  The talk that I really liked was the one by President Packer about the old crow and the new crow. haha! It was great and every word was true. We are being raised in enemy territory, and we need to break away from the world as much as we can. Satan knows what a great reward that awaits us after this life if we keep to Christ and follow in his foot steps. I can't express how important it is for us to do exactly this. We are in a war here on earth though sometimes we can't see it.  We can't afforded to put our amour down for a minute, because when that minute comes that's when Satan attacks. Yes the armor might get heavy at times, but we have it for a reason, and it will help strengthen us spiritually.  By working our spiritual muscles will help us carry the weight of armor we need.

I love you all so very much, keep the armor of God on at all times, you are either ready or your not, but the battle for earth is now.
I love you all and pray for you everyday( in Spanish too ;)  ),
Elder Timothy V. Gomm

The spirit really does guide if we listen September 27, 2011

Wow!!! I can't believe all those things that are going on back home... its crazy how fast time is going by. I just don't wait to blink because it all might just fly by.  Well, you got your wish mom, I'm staying with Elder Menchaca in Dolores. I love the people here,  it's just hard to get to their hearts some times. I will still try because I know that there is someone out there waiting.

We found a lady the other day, she said that she had prayed to God the other day for help and then we showed up on her door step. I told her that we were directed by God to her door step. What happened was we passed her door, both of us looking at it, but we kept walking. About half a block later we both felt that we needed to turn back and knock at her door. She started to cry and well... I did too. God works in very small and simple ways to bring to past the eternal life and salvation of men. It was really neat to see this and be there for the spirit to work through me.
I loved the pictures of the kidsgoing to trek:

Emily: I noticed something was different, I just couldn't tell who was who.... I'm going to have to find a really big stick here to beat those boys off. I couldn't tell you and malorie apart.

Gid: I love ya bud, don't break my amp.

I love you mom and dad so very much! Thank you for everything, for all the counsel and the help with my personal welfare.

Malorie: remember life is hard, but living without the basics is alot harder, such as pray, reading the scriptures and partaking of the sacrament.

I love you all so very much thank you for everything. Have fun at conference, I'll be watching, gid don't be playing tic tac toe to much if so I'll know!
Love,
Elder Timothy V. Gomm

Sharing the Message of Jesus Christ September 18, 2011

Well another week has passed, and the next time I'll be writing it will be exchange day!

Time is going by so fast.... You asked about the other Elders serving here in the area, Elder Laycock  was the one who had a birthday and yes he speaks english. The other elder is Elder Miranda and he is from panama as well.

I have had many experiences this week, I am drained from head to toe. The spirit gets very strong when you open your mouth so share the message of Jesus Christ. I don't know what it is, but whenever I speak people listen.... all I do is try to speak with the spirit and find the needs of my fellow brethren.  It could be because of my accent too, but is was very neat.

My companion and I are having alot of fun and are running everywhere and finding people to share this message with. We both have almost the same time in the mission so we both are learning, but its great fun. I love being in the service of the Lord and I love these people here. I love speaking with them and able to talk with them. This mission is the place for me right now. I have learnt so much and I'm trying to apply everything. I love you all so very much!

Until next week, Elder Timothy V Gomm

September 12, 2011 We went to a park for our P day today. Here I am with Elder Laycock.

I am pushing it getting this close to the water huh.

Dolores Uruguay Missionaries are found in a tree.........What monkeys they must be.

There are lake and pond at every park it seems like.

The end of a fun day with the missionaries here in Dolores.

We'll keep smiling until next time.

My dear family,

Another week has passed and we are having great fun. Today we had a big companion study with the two companionship's. We were talking about the attributes of Christ and I think right now I need to work on patience.  Patience is probably the most hardest to achieve of all the attributes of Christ, because it is a part of every attribute. I'm speak more Spanish then ever, me and my comp are talking more and explaining why we feel different ways, especially after  lessons.  Things like how we feel it went, and what can we improve next time. We are having loads of fun.

So I have had many experiences this week such as speaking with the spirit and talking of those things that our investigators need to hear. We also have zone conference coming up soon, and we are having a blast. oh  man, I love speaking Spanish and i love these people. I have made it a goal to say to adversity, come what may and love it.  Its hard to get some people to church, but we just have to try to keep incouraging them.

I love you so very much, you all are in my prays. Don't get in trouble and always look up so that the soap doesn't get in your eyes. When ever you get a feeling that the presence of temptation in near sing a hymn or think of you favorite scripture it helps a ton.

I love you all so very much,
Elder Timothy V. Gomm

Grateful for Grandparents - September 6, 2011

Well, first off... I haven't been sick for a while now, so no worries. The reason why I'm losing weight is because I'm walking every where I go. I always have my filter water bottle with me, and I'm getting enough to eat. I don't have a picture of me and Elder Menchaca yet, we haven't had time.

So this week we had so many spiritual moments, every time I felt the spirit speak through me to each and everyone of those we taught. I always remember the advice Grandpa Johnson gave me, to tell someone something that is true, or so they can understand, you need to speak from your heart through your eyes, to their eyes and their heart. I have used that time and time again, and it works.  I love all of my grandparents, they have given advice that I have used and will keep using.  I am grateful for them giving me fun and hardworking experiences. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Gomm and Grandma and Grandpa Johnson, I love you all.

Well my Spanish has been sky rocketing, but sometimes my companion tries to knock down myself confidence, but I'm just ignoring that. I going to have a little talk with him here soon, maybe I'll get something into him to stop saying that I can't talk very well.... his a great guy and a great missionary. I'm always  adjusting with every companion that I have.

I love you all!  I loved you mom and dad! Make sure you guy say I love you twice a day and go play in the dirt for at least an hour. I love you all so very much, and if Malorie is around tell her to never give up family time, its more important then painting her nails, haha, I'm kidding Mal, love you too, haha!

Love, Elder Timothy V. Gomm
